How to Remember to Floss

Posted .

Flossing is very important. It helps you have a clean and healthy smile and it also helps you prevent dental issues, like tooth decay and gum disease. If you want the top-notch oral health you deserve, it’s important to floss at least once a day. If you forget to floss, our dentists, Dr. Frederick Stark and Dr. Brad Norden, are happy to help you remember. You can remember by doing the following things:

-Set a reminder for yourself: Just write “Don’t forget to floss” on your calendar that’s hanging on your wall or on a sticky note and then stick it to the bathroom mirror. You can also set a reminder in your phone that beeps in the morning before you start your day or at night before you head to bed.

-Keep your floss by your toothbrush: Because you brush often, you can be reminded to floss if you place your dental floss next to the brush. You’ll see the floss and remember to clean the crevices of your smile after you’re done brushing.

-Keep floss handy: Put dental floss in your backpack, purse or briefcase. This can remind you to floss throughout the day because you will see it often. This can help you if you don’t have enough time in your morning or night routines to floss. This way you can floss after lunch, before your big presentation or before a meeting. This can also help you avoid embarrassing food-filled smile moments.
